  • Are you horse whisperers?
Perhaps! All of our counselors are able to develop amazing connections with horses, and we certainly all have a profound depth of equestrian experience. There are multiple ways to observe and interpret equestrian behaviour. We use our curiosity and gift for asking critical questions to discover what horses are communicating to us.
  • Do you work with adults?
We sure do! We work with people of all ages, genders, and cultures. Everyone is welcome.
  • Do you have to work with a horse?
No. We offer traditional “talk therapy” in private rooms as well as Equestrian Facilitated Therapy. Above all else, we customize your therapeutic experience to meet your needs. For example, if that involves spending a little time outdoors with our support animals, and a little time in private sessions, that’s no problem.
  • What programs do you offer?
We don’t have run specific, formal programs, which ultimately makes us more versatile and open to your needs. At your intake session, we’ll create a plan for therapy that’s perfect for you. Also, if you are an organization that’s interested in participating in a session at our stables, then we will collaborate on a program design with you.
  • What if I am afraid of horses?
That’s totally ok. We would never ask you to do something that doesn’t feel safe. That’s true whether it’s working with a horse or talking about things that you don’t want to talk about. The bottom line is: we respect you and where you’re at. We will encourage you to take risks while knowing what your limits are. We can also go slowly so that you can decide at any moment what you need to feel safe.
  • Will you work with my benefits?
Yes. You simply need to call and check with your individual plan to ensure that they will cover Registered Clinical Counselors.
  • What does a session look like?
There are many possibilities…and no two sessions look totally alike. For example, you could spend a whole session working with horses. Or you could spend some time sitting and talking in a therapy room and some time with the horses. We also have two dogs that are often a part of our sessions and 40 acres that we can walk together.
  • How many sessions does it take to see progress?
That’s up to you. Some people like to come once a week and others book sessions when they need them. Just like your therapy plan should be customized, your timeline for healing is very individual.
